The Farm

The Farm

Sprouts have access to the farm's growing fields and gardens, where they are able to observe and sometimes participate in planting, caring for, and harvesting throughout the seasons. Sprouts also feed and care for the farm's animals (chickens, goats, and ducks) every morning. We also collect eggs (and count them)! The farm provides authentic opportunities for learning about plant life cycles and food production, while taking care of the animals fosters empathy, responsibility, and respect.

The Forest

Adjacent to the farm is 37 acres of Millis Town Conservancy land. It features a wooded area with walking trails–perfect for hiking, bird watching, and nature scavenger hunts. It also provides a large grassy meadow that begs to be rolled down and several picnic tables ideal for having a quick snack or lunch before heading back to the yurt yard. The forest is a great place for RISKY PLAY, where children can test their limits, manage risk, and build competence.

The Yurt

The Yurt

When the weather is “un-fun” we have a 450 sq. foot yurt with a wood stove to warm us up when it’s cold! It also provides us shelter for when we want to eat inside or cozy up to read books with some hot cocoa. It has floor space for free play, shelving filled with open-ended art materials, and lots and lots of books!
